This is my all-time favorite way to make steamed rice! In all honesty, I don’t love rice (unless it’s fried rice with tons of Yum-Yum sauce or this coconut rice), but some recipes just scream for it to soak up all the sauce. Whether rice is life for you, or you’re more take-it-or-leave-it like me, this recipe is perfection.
Basmati rice is, in my opinion, the best long-grain rice. It’s nutty, aromatic and much more flavorful than most other varieties. Rinsing the rice helps ensure the grains stay fluffy and light instead of sticky and clumpy. Adding some butter to the water to steam helps add that flavor I always feel plain steamed rice is missing, while a little more stirred in after fluffing gilds the lily. I love stirring a little chopped cilantro for more flavor, but that’s completely up to you.
Serve this with Beef & Broccoli for a complete (and completely delicious) dinner!
